A global celebration of Manchester's music and visual culture
Sensurround-Manchester toured to South Africa, Trinidad, Venezuela, India and Romania featuring DJs, VJs, live audiovisual performances, a film programme and interactive CDroms showcasing the creative talent of Manchester. With Maddox (Skam), Meam, Soup, Veba, Chris Jam, DJ As If, Chris Boardman and DJ Woody. Produced and commissioned by Futuresonic and British Council.






Sensurround-Manchester: Bringing It Back Home

The finale of the British Council's Sensurround-Manchester world tour was a two festival featuring collaborations with artists encountered during the tour, presented by Futuresonic as a part of Cultureshock, the cultural programme of the Commonwealth Games.

Two musical systems collide as internationally respected Indian classical musicians Aneesh Pradhan and Shubha Mudgal venture into electronica with remixes of tracks by Manchester's v/vm

Bollywood Toolshed
Indian artist Sankalp Meshram (Bollywood/MTV-India) explores the iconography of classic Bollywood film (the world’s first Bollywood VJ set!) in a live collaboration with Graham Massey/Toolshed & Soup Collective

Kwaito
Kwaito superstars Bongo Maffin introduce the urban sound of South Africa to the UK alongside the Kwaito “Allstar” DJ Cleo.

Rapso Ataklan cooks up some Trinidad Rapso (rap with calypso beats, the unique Carribbean sound) in a lyrical jam alongside Manchester's DarkJazz.

Picking up where Q-bert's Wavetwister left off, ITC World scratching champion DJ Woody hooks up with the UK's leading digital artists Meam to take hip hop to the next level in a blur of audiovisual trickhoppery. Beat juggling in After Effects?! Check!

Carma Coma: a digital short by Nyay Bhushan (Delhi) about the madness of indian traffic, screened for the first time in the UK.

DJ As If and the new ITC World Scratch Champion DJ Woody play alongside Tron 2 (Mouse + Seek), UK breakdancing champions (winners of Urban Games) and UK representatives at the Playstation B-Boy World Championships (as Children of the Monkey Basket)
